Statement of intent

Statement of intent:

My magazine will mainly be for 12-13 year olds who are learning to look after a cat/kitten for the first time, who just want some advice on how to look after their cat properly, or who are interested in taking care of a cat. Thus this is a more niche audience as not many people want know how to look after cats. In addition to this, it will also appeal to group E on the demographics table as 12-13 year olds are unemployed students. It will include a reference to a famous toy story quote from a scene: to infinity and beyond ,then i will add on "with knowledge", so that the full quote will read "to infinity and beyond with knowledge". My magazine will include a £1 offer to people who want to buy a magazine on a budget as most magazines about animals are around £4. The target audience would be attracted to low prices, interesting and entertaining facts/ steps and references to famous Disney quotes. In addition to this, my magazine would also include tips/steps on how to care for their cat when (for example) they are about to go on holiday and don't want to leave their cat with limited resources in order for them to keep happy while their owners are on holiday. My front cover will be a full-body shot (to show how he is curious; just like my readers are to learn more about cats) of my fluffy cute cat called Gizmo. My front cover will also consist of large writing and bright colours, such as :red, orange, yellow, black and white to attracts audiences of both genders. The double page spread will also include similar pictures of my cat sitting, standing or sleeping to show the natural positions of a cat. My magazine will hopefully persuade readers to think that cats are cute and it will help them to understand cats a little better than they used to. Furthermore, my magazine will get rid of the negative stereotype that cats are aggressive and vicious and show that there is more to cats than just sleeping. My article (not my main one) will talk about interesting did you know facts that will hopefully engage and entertain the reader into thinking that cats are special pets as well.

My article (short version) 340 words including headings...

It can be heartbreaking having to tell your cat off for being naughty, as you don’t want them to hate you! Well I have 2 cats’, which means…DOUBLE TROUBLE! Nevertheless, I love them to the moon and back. But, I still wonder if I am giving them the best possible? That’s why I am going to tell you the key steps of taking care of your cat to ensure that they are healthy, happy and comfortable!

- Firstly, y
ou want to confirm that your cat is comfortable in their environment.
Certify that they are not scared of any sort of object in your home. For instance: if your cat is petrified of your chair, you want to get them used to it by slowly re-introducing them to it. To do this, place a snack onto/near the object so that they realize it’s harmless. You do not want to force them to do something, as you will make them anxious to be around you!

- Secondly, you want to ensure that they get enough play time a day as it is vital to a cat
.
To ensure this happens you could purchase some cat toys. However, if you are too busy then you may want to invest in an automatic cat toy, which would make your cat just as content. When you introduce your cat to the outdoors, it’s important that you slowly introduce them to the garden, (staying with them while they go outside), as outdoors is scary to a small animal.

- Thirdly, you want to make sure that they are being well cared for, especially when going on holiday.
To guarantee that this happens, make sure they have enough wet & dry food, clean litter, enough toys lying around and a safe environment. Ensure that you gradually increase the amount of time you are away from them. If you still don’t feel comfortable with leaving your cat at home, you could: take them to the vets or get someone that you trust to take care of them.

Casting

Wednesday 1st May 2019

In this post i will be able to see who would be the best cast for my magazine.

( my cat but i cant get a picture of him on the blog)

Key information:
My cat

Why is this cat suitable?
Because they are easy to get hold of, my cat, and they relate to my magazine. My cat will also give my magazine more of a selling point because he (or my girl cat) is very cute.

What makes this cat unsuitable?
They may move around too much so it will be hard to get a picture (unless they are relaxed)
